This is me and my roommate at the Kenny Chesney concert this summer.
I like to work in groups with my friends and have demonstrations. I like to do hands on projects but I don't like to take tests or sit through lectures. Outside of the classroom I like to hang out with my friends and family. I enjoy going shopping and going to the movies with my friends.
Below are the goals for my Foundations of College Writing Course.
For each goal, I've selected work that demonstrates how I addressed that goal during the course,
and explained how, citing specific examples from my work.
Goal
My Work
My explanation
Goal A - Students will be able to compose
for particular audiences and purposes
The news article I wrote as my first genre. I've never written a news article before and was not aware of the format or the role to take on.
Students will learn how to write using different styles and roles.
Goal B - Students will be able to compose using
language and conventions appropriate to genre
The diary entry I wrote as my second genre. I had to write in "I" form and make the entry very descriptive and personal.
I had to write as if I was actually experiencing the storm.
Goal C - Students will be able to read, select, and use
evidence critically to formulate and support arguments
FAQ-I sheets because i was able to take information from articles I've read and was then able to use it in my news article and diary entry. I tried to get information that was very detailed and specific.
I had to pick and choose the information I thought was most important to include in my project.
Goal D - Students will be able to interpret and compose in
a variety of media and print/non-print genres
A magazine ad would be a good example because you still get to information but its not like a paper.
you get to put the information that you think is most useful and most important on the ad but you can also add pictures
Goal E - Students will be able to describe and apply
appropriate writing processes, both individually
and in collaborative contexts
The peer review sheets are a good example for this goal. After writing your genre someone else can read it and will be able to give you a second opinion.
The peer review sheets helped me see what mistakes in my work that i didn't catch on to the first time. Printed out copies of my work also helped me find mistakes easier.
